Leo Brideau is President and Chief Executive Officer of Columbia St. Mary’s, Health System in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Columbia St. Mary's is a multi-hospital system which includes three acute care hospitals, a rehabilitation hospital and a joint venture orthopedic hospital. Columbia St. Mary’s operates 66 physician clinics in four counties as well as a major ambulatory care center and four urgent care centers. Mr. Brideau also serves as a Ministry Market Leader for Ascension Health providing leadership and direction to their hospitals and other health facilities in Missouri and Wisconsin.
Previously, he served as President of Strong Health Regional Network in Rochester, New York, and CEO of Strong Memorial Hospital, the academic medical center hospital of the University of Rochester. He also served as Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Mr. Brideau has served in many state and national leadership roles in healthcare. He chaired the board of the Health Care Association of New York State and served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association (AHA). He was a member of the AHA Executive Committee and served on the AHA Commission on Workforce for Hospitals and Health Systems. He currently chairs the AHA’s Task Force on Payment Reform as well as the Wisconsin Hospital Association’s Health Reform task force. He was appointed by NY Governor Mario Cuomo to the NY State Public Health Council where he served for seven years. He was appointed by NY Governor George Pataki to serve on the noted Commission on Health Care Facilities in the Twenty-First Century.
Mr. Brideau has served as a board member of the WHA and as chair of WHA Future Physician Work Force. He serves as a Board member of the Milwaukee Healthcare Partnership, Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce and the Greater Milwaukee Committee.
Mr. Brideau is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He received a BS Degree in international economics from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, and a Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration from the Medical College of Virginia.
