Center for Pain Management

Helping You Gain Control
Enjoying Life Again
When pain is a part of your life, little else matters. Living with pain can affect your emotional and physical well-being, as well as your relationships with family, friends and co-workers. Often you lose the ability to remain involved in the activities you love. It can be difficult to find relief, and it’s easy to become discouraged. But giving in to pain is not the answer.

At Columbia St. Mary’s we can help you manage and sometimes eliminate your pain. Our goal is to help you regain control and enjoy a quality of life that helps you feel like yourself again.

Before the Treatment Plan
Identifying the Causes of Pain
There are many causes and degrees of pain. You may first experience pain following an on-the-job injury or a motor vehicle accident. Your pain could also be the result of a chronic illness, surgery or a degenerative medical condition or illness.

Typically pain responds to standard medical care or resolves itself over time. However, if your pain lasts beyond the time normally needed for healing, it becomes known as "chronic pain." When you experience chronic pain you may find that it reduces your activity level, and affects your ability to sleep and cope with every day stress. As a result, you may experience fatigue and mood changes. These problems then add to your suffering and discomfort, causing a complex problem that requires a specialized treatment approach.

Treatment Goals

Our goal is to improve your quality of life by helping you regain control, increase your comfort level and return to the lifestyle you enjoyed prior to the illness or injury causing your pain.
