The Milwaukee Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery at Columbia St. Mary's is the Midwest's first multi-specialty minimally invasive surgical center of excellence.
Established in 1992 by a group of highly respected leaders in the field of minimally invasive surgery, the Institute grew out of a strong desire to provide the most innovative surgical care and treatment for patients.
According to Drs. Lyle Henry and Charles Koh, Co-Directors of the Institute, "Utilizing the most recent technology and surgical techniques, our team of physicians and nurses have been able to deliver state-of-the-art laparoscopic procedures. We continually integrate new procedures and improve upon existing ones."
Physicians of the Institute monitor their progress, and were the first group of physicians in Wisconsin to report their results to the medical community. Outcome data indicate that patients receive excellent care.
From pre-operative to post-operative care, minimally invasive surgery is a specialty that our experienced staff is uniquely qualified to provide. Because the needs of our patients differ from those of patients undergoing general surgery, our nurses and technicians in the dedicated operating room and on the patient care wing have received specialized training to meet those needs.
In addition to providing excellent patient care, physicians of the Milwaukee Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery have published books and articles, reported their results in medical literature, and taught and lectured worldwide.
Columbia St. Mary's continues to support the progressive vision of the Milwaukee Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery and is proud to be a part of their innovative philosophy of care.
