Columbia St. Mary's Wireless Internet Access Security Statement
Columbia St. Mary’s assumes no responsibility for, nor liability resulting from the use of this wireless network. Users should assume all communications made via this network are public.
The Columbia St. Mary’s WiFi service is based upon a wireless technology standard that is constantly evolving and is not inherently secure. Therefore, Columbia St. Mary’s does not and will not guarantee the privacy of your data and communications while using the service from any of our WiFi locations. Wireless LAN’s (local area networks), such as those used at Columbia St. Mary’s WiFis, transmit data through the air. These transmissions may be intercepted by equipment and software designed to do so.
Columbia St. Mary’s suggests that all users take the necessary precautions to secure their devices and Internet communications. We greatly encourage and support the use of user-provided security solutions, including encryption and personal firewalls. It is the user's responsibility to provide the security measures best suited to their situation and their intended use of the service. Though encouraged, Columbia St. Mary’s cannot guarantee or otherwise be responsible for the effectiveness of any user-provided security solutions.
This statement is not intended to cover all Internet related security issues or risks. Any computer device exchanging data over a wireless or any other network is vulnerable to security risks such as viruses, Trojan horses, denial of service attacks, and data interception. To best avoid these hazards, we encourage users to make use of resources such as the Internet, your local library, or bookstores, to find comprehensive information concerning these and other security issues.
Columbia St. Mary’s may update this Security Statement from time to time without notification.
