George Morris, MD, FAAN Epilepsy Center Medical Director

A nationally recognized expert in the assessment and treatment of epilepsy, Dr. Morris has been involved with numerous research studies that have increased the number of effective treatments, resulting in more positive outcomes for epilepsy patients. In his career, Dr. Morris has been involved in more than 600 surgeries for epilepsy.

Committed to respectful listening, his clinical focus is working with patients to build treatment plans that solve and eliminate seizures. Dr. Morris asks his patients to keep a log of their seizures, noting any effects that might be associated with the medications they are taking. He also encourages patients to bring a list of their questions for each appointment.

Dr. George Morris earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha. He completed a residency in neurology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and a fellowship in EEG/Epilepsy at the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Morris has been involved in the development of functional magnetic resonance imaging in the areas of epilepsy and detection of memory and speech. In addition, he has developed guidelines for the appropriate and prompt treatment of epilepsy and continued seizures.

His professional memberships include the American Medical Association, American Academy of Neurology, American Epilepsy Society, American EEG Society and the Milwaukee Neuropsychiatric Society. He is currently chair of the Task Force on Opioid Abuse and Opioid Overdoses for the Wisconsin Medical Society.
