Our team of Prostate Cancer experts focus on diagnosing and treating patients quickly and effectively. Our focus on mind, body and spirit in treating the whole patient, is evident in our team’s special attention to quality of life and minimizing side effects while eliminating cancer.
Because cancer patients form relationships with multiple physicians as they begin their journey into survivorship, we work to make this process as simple as possible. We bring all the experts, physicians, nurses, support people and other caregivers together to enhance communication among providers. This strengthens the patient’s role as a true member of the Team that is making decisions about the treatment plan.
Columbia St. Mary’s is dedicated to educating the public about prostate cancer risk. We recommend that every patient who is identified as high risk — based on factors such as age and race — have a conversation with his doctor about prostate cancer and get screened if symptoms are present.
Contact your primary care physician to address any concerns you may have.
We participate in the American Cancer Society’s Next Steps Support Group. Because of the myriad lifestyle-related side effects, nurturing and compassionate support from one’s peers is especially important for men battling prostate cancer. These meetings occur on a monthly basis and are free of charge.
