The multidisciplinary approach to breast cancer care is led by a Nurse Navigator - a patient's primary point of contact and oftentimes, a confidante. Before even scheduling a biopsy, a Nurse Navigator will call the patient to work with her throughout the entire cancer journey to guide, inform and be a shoulder to lean on. A Nurse Navigator will explain the diagnosis and treatment options, as well as schedule and coordinate appointments.
When Cheryl Halverson was diagnosed with breast cancer, she was shocked and scared. Fortunately, her Nurse Navigator was with her every step of the way, at every appointment. Cheryl says she wouldn't have been able to get through her treatment without Peggy's endless support and encouragement.
