What to Pack

When the big day arrives, you're going to have a lot on your mind! Here's a list of items to consider packing sooner rather than later. After all, your baby may arrive when you least expect it!

What to Pack

For Mom:

  • Driver's license or other form of picture ID
  • Insurance card(s)
  • Camera
  • Grooming aids and cosmetics (toothbrush, deodorant, etc.)
  • Loose clothes to wear home
  • A list of friends and relatives you'll want to share your big news with
  • Anything else that is important to you, your birth and your baby

Optional Items for Mom: 

  • Lotion or massage oil in a scent you enjoy (massage can be helpful for "back labor" or as a distraction to labor pains)
  • A nursing bra
  • Slippers
  • Nursing nightgowns or pajamas (hospital gowns and robes are provided)
  • Breastfeeding pillow
  • Laptop and charger

For Your Support Person: 

  • Grooming aids (toothbrush, deodorant, etc.)
  • Aspirin, antacids and other medication
  • A change of clothes
  • A swimsuit if using the birthing tub or shower
  • Favorite pillows or other items from home (religious items, pictures, etc.)
  • Relaxing music and music player
  • Snacks

For Baby:

  • Clothes to wear home
  • Blanket to stay warm on the way home
  • Properly installed car seat
