CSM Employees Prepare 200 Thanksgiving Baskets

Thursday, November 16, 2000

In the true spirit of giving this holiday season, employees of Columbia-St. Mary’s Hospitals (CSM) and Clinics have prepared approximately 200 Thanksgiving Baskets for 95 Milwaukee families in need. The abundant baskets will each include a turkey and all of the preparations for a Thanksgiving meal as well as clothing, toys, diapers, formula and assorted items as determined for each specific family. Hospital social workers identified the 95 families in need through their work with the St. Ben’s Clinic, St. Mary’s Family Practice, Columbia Family Practice Clinic and others.

“Each year the families are overwhelmed with joy and emotion when they pick-up their Thanksgiving baskets knowing that they will have food on the table this holiday,” said Sister Barbara Linke, coordinator for the Columbia-St. Mary’s Thanksgiving Basket drive. “We all have so much to be thankful for that we need to do what we can to remember those less fortunate.”
