On September 21, 2000, St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee broke ground on a $38 million addition to expand its emergency services, day surgery, testing and treatment, and medical imaging departments. The expansion, on the southside of the hospital, was necessary to meet the needs of the growing Ozaukee County and northshore communities. In addition to expanding space for outpatient services, the project will also create additional parking. Free valet parking is now available to patients, their families and visitors during construction.
The sitework and foundation for the new addition should be completed after December 25, 2000.
This fall, children from Oriole Lane School participated in a field trip to the Hospital to help plant three new acres of wetlands as part of the project.
The 107,000 square-foot addition will be completed in January 2002 and renovations to 36,000 square feet of the existing building will be finished in spring of 2003.
A $5 million community fundraising campaign “Invest in Excellence” is currently underway to help fund the project.
