Columbia St. Mary's Exhibits the Prevent Cancer Super Colon to Increase Awareness About Colorectal Cancer Prevention

WHAT:

  • Walk through an interactive and inflatable, eight-foot high and 20-foot long, colon exhibit to see “up close and personal” what goes on inside your body.
  • Free take-home colon cancer screening kit for the first 100 people
  • Physicians and nurses will be on hand to answer questions
  • View a colonoscopy surgery video and tour the GI department
  • Photo opportunities with Polly and Penny Polyps
  • Visit healthcare exhibits
  • Stay for popcorn and refreshments and watch a showing of the 1966 sci-fi drama, Fantastic Voyage

River Woods Outpatient Center, 375 W. River Woods Parkway
Glendale

WHY:

To raise awareness that colon cancer is the second leading cancer killer in the United States and encourage people to get a screening colonoscopy. Colon cancer affects men and women of all races. The disease is preventable through screening and if detected early, it can be successfully treated 90 percent of the time.
