Sheboygan, WI, October 10, 2012 – Columbia St. Mary’s is pleased to announce that full-field digital mammography is now being offered at the Marsho Family Medical Group, 1703 N. Taylor Dr., Sheboygan, WI, 53081.
“We perform as many as 200 mammograms a month and digital mammography allows us to continue to provide our patients with the absolute best care available,” said Kaye Daane, lead radiology technologist at the Marsho Clinic. “This is one of the many steps that we are taking to enhance and expand the care of our valued patients,” she said.
Full-field digital mammography is superior to traditional mammography for a variety of reasons. Digital images allow doctors to more easily share and store a screening image, which makes an annual mammogram easier to compare to a previous image and second opinions easier to obtain. Digital files also allow radiologists to manipulate the images for better clarity and visibility. Additionally, digital mammograms use about 25 percent less radiation than film mammograms, which is ultimately safer for the patient.
Not only is digital mammography the latest advancement in breast cancer detection, but the Marsho Clinic has the newest technology on the market, the Hologic Selenia Dimensions 2D Full-Field Digital Mammography. This state-of-the-art mammography machine has an advanced selenium direct capture detector that creates superior image quality. It also has an ergonomic, integrated workstation that can simultaneously acquire new images and display previous ones, which allows for better and more efficient diagnostics.
