Columbia St. Mary’s is excited to announce it has been awarded three 2014 Women’s Choice Awards for Excellence in Women’s Healthcare. The three recognized areas are Emergency Care, Breast Health and Obstetrics.
In Southeastern Wisconsin, Columbia St. Mary’s was the only hospital recognized in Emergency Care and one of only two recognized in Obstetrics and Breast Health. These awards are based on surveys of tens of thousands of women – in order to be included in the survey, hospitals must meet various patient satisfaction and clinical quality scores.
The Women’s Choice Awards were launched in 2012 by WomenCertified, a marketing research firm run by Delia Passi, former publisher of Working Woman and Working Mother magazines. Their goal is to identify the best hospitals across the nation in order to “help women make smart healthcare choices.”
The following areas have been recognized for a Women’s Choice Award for Excellence in Women’s Healthcare.
Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee — Emergency Care
Hospitals earn the Emergency Care Award if they consistently rank in the top 25 percent of the 3,600 hospitals reporting on their emergency department’s performance to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The seven measures CMS publicly reports are weighted according to the priorities of women we surveyed, and determine if a hospital can earn the award if they fall outside the 25th percentile for one or more of the seven measures. We also limit the award to those hospitals with a solid HCAHPS recommendation rating.
Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee — Breast Health
The facilities listed below have earned the Women’s Choice Award as America’s Best Breast Centers. Breast care is extremely vital to women’s health and we want women to choose breast centers that have met the highest standards in caring for the needs of their female patients. All awarded centers have met the high standards of the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and carry the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE) seal from the American College of Radiology. They also have above average patient recommendation ratings according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee — Obstetrics
Our America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics scoring process is unique in that it is the ONLY national list that focuses on female patient satisfaction. We select the best hospitals that provide obstetric services based on their exceptional scores for patient recommendation in HCAHPS surveys. We then filter those hospitals to eliminate those with abnormal results for certain important clinical considerations, such as rates of infection or serious complications. The resulting list of over 300 award winners represents hospitals women can feel confident in choosing for their maternity needs.
About The Women’s Choice Awards
The Women’s Choice Award sets the standard for helping women make smarter choices by collectively identifying the brands, products and services most recommended and trusted by women and those that deliver a customer experience worthy of her recommendation. Awards are based on surveys of thousands of women, as well as research conducted in partnership with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania on what drives the consumer experience for women vs. men. As the leading advocate for female consumers, WomenCertified®, home of the Women’s Choice Award, created the first national award based on the ratings and preferences of women to provide them with a collective voice.
