Dr. Richard Shimp, Chairman of Emergency Medicine, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer of CSM's Hospital Division. Dr. Shimp will assume this new role effective Monday, December 1.
Dr. Shimp is currently completing a two-year term as CSM's Medical Staff President. He has served CSM in various leadership roles over the past 16 years, including Chairman of Emergency Medicine, ED Quality Assurance Director, as well as championing the stroke and chest pain centers. In addition, he has served as a board member for Infinity HealthCare for more than five years. He is a past President and board member of Wisconsin Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians and has served on the Milwaukee County Medical Society EMS council.
Dr. Shimp earned his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in 1994. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in 1995 and a residency in emergency medicine at the Denver Health Medical Center in 1998. Dr. Shimp served his final residency year as Chief Resident.
