Shahid Qamar, MD, Cardiology, has joined the staff at
Columbia St. Mary’s Heart and Vascular Institute (2301 N. Lake Dr.).
Dr. Qamar earned his medical degree in 2001 at Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi, Pakistan. His interest in the evolving field of cardiac medicine motivated him to come to the United States. He completed his residency in internal medicine in 2008, and a fellowship in cardiology in 2013, both at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.
“I have a passion for my work and have been trained and inspired by leaders in the field of modern cardiac medicine,” said Dr. Qamar. “I am dedicated to helping people with advanced heart failure lead full lives by providing them the best medical and healthcare options available.”
To further his training in advanced heart failure and transplant medicine, Dr. Qamar completed a fellowship in 2015 at the University of Chicago. He is board certified in internal medicine. He has extensive training in the evaluation and treatment of advanced heart failure patients, including follow-up after cardiac transplant and mechanical circulatory support surgery.
